Crystal: Sensational Savings Extended

This roundtrip voyage offers the fall foliage spectacle as well as fascinating destinations to explore. We start our journey with an overnight stay in Bayonne on the banks of the Hudson River, gateway to New York City, before sailing to Newport, Rhode Island, to admire the beautiful mansions that were once home to rich and famous families such as the Vanderbilts and Astors. Next, we continue to bohemian Provincetown at the tip of Cape Cod, a long-time favorite spot for artists, before diving into the revolutionary history of Boston. Sailing north to Portland, where a culinary walking tour of the old port is a must, we continue over the Canadian border to Saint John to sharpen up photography skills in the Bay of Fundy. Finally, we spend a day at sea returning to energetic New York City.

Enjoy a 13-day voyage from South Korea to Japan. Departing Incheon near Seoul, we spend a relaxing day at sea before reaching Busan, much loved by Koreans for its setting and magnificent temple of Beomeo-sa. Sailing onwards to Japan, we stop at Nagasaki, now a vibrant and charming city, and call in at Fukuoka, renowned for its cuisine. Our next port of call is Sakaiminato, followed by Kanazawa, home to the exceptionally beautiful garden of Kenrokuen. Heading north up the coast we stop at Sakata followed by Aomori, with its striking art gallery, and proceed to Hakodate, in the shadow of the mountain of the same name, before finishing the cruise at Tokyo.

Leaving Marseille’s Calanques in our wake, we cross into Spanish waters for a few days, calling first at Mahón, the small and elegant capital of the island of Menorca, and then on to the awe-inspiring city of Barcelona. Here, marvel at Gaudí’s extraordinary architecture, hop between the lively tapas bars of the Gothic Quarter, and enjoy the world-class museums and galleries. A day at sea gives you time to recharge before we arrive in Monte Carlo just in time for the Monaco Grand Prix. Expect plenty of excitement as race weekend takes over these historic streets. Next we return to France to visit Villefranche-sur-Mer, a treasure trove of historical, cultural, and natural wonders that captivated the likes of the writer Jean Cocteau. Then we arrive in Italy, visiting Porto Venere, from where you can explore the enchanting coastal villages of the Cinque Terre, and Livorno, gateway to Tuscany, last Civitavecchia where our journey’s end.

Our voyage begins in Aomori, the seaside city on the northern tip of Japan’s Honsu island. It’s famous for its delicious apples and fresh seafood – try a selection of the latter with some rice, nokke-don, at the city’s Furukawa Fish Market. Next, we visit Kushiro, on the east coast of Hokkaido, close to wetlands beloved by birds including the red-crown crane, a national symbol of happiness and long life. Now we have some serious relaxing to do onboard the ship as we sail across the ocean – and the International Date Line – bound for Alaska. We reach land at Kodiak Island, a wilderness patrolled by bears, wolves, and moose, then travel to the fishing harbor of Homer. Next comes the sleepy town of Seward to hike to the fjords and dine on fresh halibut. We travel southwards along the dramatic west coast of Alaska and Canada, literally starting with a bang at the awe-inspiring Hubbard Glacier, where colossal ice chunks calve into the sea. Then, we sail through Glacier Bay National Park to historic Sitka, Alaska’s original capital, before setting a course for Icy Strait Point, where bear- and whale-watching are among the exhilarating activities. At Wrangell, there are 8,000-year-old carvings to see on Petroglyph Beach, while the historic town of Ketchikan has a fascinating display of totem poles. Now, we enter Canadian waters, passing the pine-fringed islets of British Columbia and following the Seymour Narrows to our final stop, Vancouver.

There’s one awe-inspiring sight after another on this voyage around Alaska, a roundtrip from the Canadian oceanfront city of Vancouver. Our first stop is Ketchikan, where the houses are built on stilts over the water and there’s a fine collection of 19th-century totem poles to see. Next, Sitka, where the onion-shaped dome on Saint Michael’s is a reminder of when this was Russian territory. Now you’ll witness the unforgettable sight of the Hubbard Glacier calving great chunks of ice into the sea, and then there are thrills in store at Icy Strait Point, a former salmon cannery turned outdoor activity center. See 8,000-year-old rock paintings at Wrangell, home of the Tlingit people, and Klawock is your gateway to big nature at the Misty Fjords National Park. At Prince Rupert, the adventurous can spot wildlife including grizzly bears and orcas, then it’s on through the Seymour Narrows to Victoria, where the architecture harks back to the days of British rule, before we reach our final destination, Vancouver.
